Buying (new) inexpensive furniture before IKEA wasn't easy.

Pre-IKEA Cabinets: Unfinished furniture + stain — not sure exactly what I am going to do. Probably paint it white.

Who remembers the days before Ikea? When your only  inexpensive furniture option for new pieces was an unfinished furniture store?

Back then, I had a pull-down-top desk with three bottom drawers. We stained that desk the same brown as the drawers above. These current drawer units came from last week’s abandoned mystery house. And the brown makes me feel temporarily nostalgic. Our family scraped by. I don't know how they could afford even unfinished furniture. Maybe a cash gift from relatives?
